Why, have you got something better to do?

Every day I get up and hope upon hope that I won't see or read something profoundly stupid…I try to get to the end of the day without running across something that once again proves how dumb we are becoming as a species.
I wanted that great day to be today…but it was not to be.
The Public Religion Research Institute conducted a survey recently on religion and sports…this of course is something that would only happen in the US.
They surveyed 1,102 people. These people were selected on the basis of the fact that they were too stupid to hang up after they realized they were being asked to participate in a phone survey.
One of the statistics they gleaned from this oh so worthwhile endeavor was that...get ready for it…God actually gives a shit about what sports teams wins on any given sunday…
About 1-in-4 (26%) Americans and 27% of self-described sports fans say that God plays a role in determining which team wins a sporting event.
Apparently people who believe in an infinitely powerful being…a being so beyond anything we can conceive of, who can literally create everything from nothing often finds himself bored on a Sunday and in fact takes it upon himself to make sure that The Miami Dolphins win.
Ummmmm.
I think any rational human being, anyone with a modicum of education could see how demented an idea this is.
If you want to believe in God, go for it but if you honestly believe in something so beyond humanity being interested in the outcome of a single fuckin' sporting event,
then you might just be too stupid to live.
Besides, we all know that God is a Forty-Niners fan.
